My Broken Wings

I was about to go to office when my father was calling me. My father had been an ill tempered since my mother left him when I was 4 years old and married with a rich man. I had to live without loved from my mother and grew up only with my father. With his cool eye he looked in my face and said something unbelievable.
He said, “You are old enough to have someone in your life. Someone who can always keep you, protect you, love you, and faith with you”.“Are you talking about marriage? I’ve planned it with Andrew. He will talk to his family and propose me soon” I asked. My heart was beating so fast because I knew well my father didn’t like Andrew and I never knew why.
“You are my only daughter and I should choose the best man for you. You will never marry him. I have my own choice. A son of my close friend. He just finished his second degree in Oxford University and he is a successful businessman. I’ve met him many times and my heart says that he can change my position to protect you” my heart was beating faster. I was afraid that he would angry. Apparently, I was wrong. I could see tears felt down from his eyes. “Daddy, are you crying? I’m sorry. I never mean to make you sad. I just . . . . . “
“Sarah, I know you love Andrew deeply, but believe me I give you someone so much better than him. You could be happy if you live with George. He has everything that isn’t had by Andrew. Hear me, please leave Andrew.” His voice was so soft. His eyes were so warm. God, what should I do?
“I’m sorry daddy. I should go to work now. I’m late already” I ran out of the house and didn’t look back. I couldn’t able to see his face”. So what should I do now? What should I say to Andrew? I will never refuse my father’s demand. I was the only one that he had. '
I decided to call Andrew and ask him to meet me. He was so excited. Then we met in the first place we saw each other. He brought me a bunch of white rose. My favorite flower. He always knew how to make me happy. He wore the shirt that I bought him as his birthday present. He looked so handsome.
“Hi honey, are you missing me?” he was flattering me. I said, “ Andrew, we have to break up.” For a second, I felt my heart stop beating. Would I be able to live without him? “Are you kidding me?”, he asked. “No, I’m totally serious. My father told me that I should marry his friend’s son” now I felt that I lost my world. I couldn’t hold my tears. I left him alone.
There was a rainy night when he was calling me. I pressed the green button. I could say nothing. The only thing I could do is just heard his voice. The voice that I loved very much. The voice that always worked in putting smile on my face. Now, it turned into something I always avoided. I haven’t wanted to meet him for about a month. “ Sarah please, you couldn’t disappear without explanation” he was begging. I turned off the telephone. I cried as loud as I could. Then I sent him a message. My last message to him. I typed, I’m sorry Andrew. I just couldn’t hurt my father. I loved him very much. Please forget me. You are a kind man. No one can change you in my heart.
